Unlit, this candle is an uppercut of beach and sunshine; concentrated, blunt, powerful. Once lit, it is as though the thing channels the wind of a summertime shoreline. It breathes. Distinctly Virginian in a way I can't quite explain, it amounts to a conjuration of salt and baldcypress, mimosa tree and Spanish moss, driftwood and a hint of distant and sweet body oils caught on a breeze sweeping over a sand dune. This is Tidewater in July. This is sandcastles collapsing among railroad ties washed upon the shores of the Chesapeake. This is camping in a grove of live oaks just North of Virginia Beach, and the fires that we keep there.
This candle smells great! You can tell it is made with care and quality. They are quick to answer any questions and stand behind their product. Will be purchasing more for gifts and myself!
Begging for this to become a perfume some day! The consistency is perfect, not so thick you can't apply, but not so thin it doesn't feel luxurious (which it does). Something about it smells mysterious, resinous, feminine, almost like a cedar sap and cream? It's really beautiful and very nourishing!
Fantastic scent, the warm cinders of an old hearth full of weather seasoned hardwood--the throw is strong and the dark matte glass creates an atmospheric glow. H&H is my new favorite chandlery.
